Summary

This position is located within the Operations Division, Office of Administrative Operations (Admin-Ops). The incumbent is responsible for supporting Admin-Ops by leading or participating in complex projects relating to the execution of initiatives that involve key operational and cross-divisional initiatives while also being involved in a wide range of sensitive, confidential and complex, cross-functional special assignments.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Business Consultant, you will:

  1. Overall: Leads or assists the office and program areas in leading comprehensive Bureau- wide or cross-Operations projects as well as office-specific targeted projects. Establishes or assists the office team leads in establishing project objectives and scope; creating the approach; developing and monitoring work plans for projects; coordinating activities among work streams; and identifying changes in scope. Acts as a consultant and advisor to lead or assist in evaluating programs/processes and recommend enhancements; develop project plans, oversee implementation, monitor progress toward goal(s); and collaborate with Admin Ops program offices to develop or update policies, standard operating procedures, and related guidance. Helps improve Admin Ops through updating or creating new processes and tools, and by providing data analysis and reporting for effective data-driven decisions.
  2. Office Advisor: Interacts with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Deputy CAO operations, and program leads to (1) ensure the CAO and Chief Operating Officer's (COO) strategy and vision are embedded in the office initiatives and priorities; (2) help draft and communicate information to CFPB leadership and all staff; (3) lead or assist on special requests or initiatives from CFPB leadership; and (4) review recommendations, presentations, and other documents before moving to clearance.
  3. Strategic and Management Consulting: Evaluates current Admin Ops processes and procedures. Identifies key business issues and diagnose problems, employing the most relevant approach/tools/techniques such as process redesign, process mapping, and benchmarking. Uses data and market research to develop and recommend improvements to existing processes or propose new processes that will enhance productivity, strengthen internal controls, and improve customer experience. Employs organizational change management best practices to drive adoption/use of new processes or functionality.
  4. Analytical: Leads the statistical analysis and reporting of Admin Ops datasets. Creates metrics and reports to assess the effectiveness of Admin Ops services to assist management in making informative operational decisions. Conducts data analysis using techniques such as quantitative analysis, surveys, interviews, and focus groups. Synthesizes, analyzes, and visualizes findings and makes recommendations on addressing findings. Develops statistical trend analyses to help improve operational requirements. Prepares reports as requested.
  5. Project Management: Leads Admin Ops-wide programs and projects in support of the Chief Administrative Officer's overall agenda. Provides technical oversight to multiple projects, monitoring all end-to-end aspects of project planning and design, scope management, coordination of team assignment and mobilization, direction and coordination of work efforts, management of overall project deliverables, status reporting, and providing status updates, quality reviews and issue identification, escalation, and resolution. Uses project management practices, tools, and techniques to control projects throughout their project life cycle and influence change in Admin Ops.
